xmas eve- 12-24-2008--
and all thru the house -not a creature was scurrying-not even a mouse
for out in the field was a windmill so new- it powered our house and the neighbors too
then up on the roof, not a reindeer's hoof beats or santa's footsteps were heard
but the solar collectors were spinning the meter backwards----absurd
and soon in the cities atop of the roof, next to the pigeoncoops, our power collectors did shine
not fearing a black-out , a brown-out for the grid might be the power company's, but this power was mine
and so brave st nick or hanukah harry- the only thing on my list might be too large to carry
but don't think me nervy or far too defiant
i think i just want to become self-reliant
if it's self reliance you seek in a world where we have far too often delegated our lives needs to others
take some oif it back and let us start a new aproach to our energy needs
i am looking forward to telling you of real opportunities for all americans to become self reliant and confident in a time of too much national doubt
times might have never been better to watch for a transformation in our nation
keep your eye on

intro to THE ANSWER MY FRIEND

history & background

turning points in my life...tell an adventurous and fascinating story.
in 1973 i was living on a farm trying to be an organic farmer, the term we liked at that time was subsistence farmer, however i realized that while the whole world was searching for stability and ease of life, i was working terribly hard to become a serf, a peasant.  i kept my sanity through music annd ultimately met an extraordinary person, to become one of my best and most enduring friends until his far to premature demise...michael zinn.  i was teaching guitar at the sullivan county community college and playing every chance i got .  someone told me he had moved up and we would be a great match.  michael had this idea that alternative energy would be the key to the future, and soon i understood that he was right.  michael had designed a methane generator that would generate the methane, as it burned it would generate electricity.  in the course of a few years of development, working in fishermans waders, and working in a swarm of flies, a cloud of methane gas fromputrifying chicken manure on the lagerway farm in sullivan county, michael had patented a few of his ideas and became one of a core of independent entrepreneurs in the world of alternative energy.  he incorporated as bio-energy systems, inc because he saw his initial efforts in using readily available natural biological sources and systems as his field.  at the community college he organized the first energy fair and brought together every inventor of a new energy saving device, all to that campus in loch sheldrake, new york, the catskill mountains, in 1973.  at this time the shah of iran organized the oil producing and exporting nations as a cartel to control and manipulate the world economy by controlling the production and distribution of oil, and to illustrate his point he organized the first energy crisis.  my oldest daughter was coming into the world at that time and i will never forget the lines and waiting on line for the scarce fuel and the rapid change in price of fuel.
my friend started distributing all the inventions and innovations that excited hi, and networked his way around this totally new industry.  in the course of this he realized solar ollectors and water heaters could be a direction to go in, and after a summer frolic in the sun, he realized that rubber is much cheaper that copper, and so designed a modular rubber mat with tubes incorparated into it for the solar heating of water for home use, swimming pools and industry.  michaels brilliance lead to a rapid growth in business, and was soon distributing his own and others products far and wide.  unfortunately a few years ago he was flying back from a florida visit and died in a crash.  at this time i was a doctor , and would occasionally work a week or so up inthe adirondack mountains , covering rural doctors practices .  i found this a real break from the heavy hours i had bee keeping in vassar hospital, and new yor k city.  during one such trip, i explored that area around oneida and discovered the fenner windfarm.
i had my camcorder and interviewed the farmer most responsible for helping it all come about by making it all possible.
i was delivering babies in the adirondack ountains, and watching the sun rise and set.  talking with a farmer who transformed his most immediate community into the first large scal e project into an effective producer of enough electricity- 30 wind tubines- fuel for electricity for 10,000 homes
i was watching and filming the busy flies and buttterfies and how they keep moving and progressing towards a healthy end.   at the same time i saw the conflicts modern man has created for himself and realized that michael knew that his purpose on this planet was to make us self-sufficient in the world of energy, and create a self sustaining world of technology to achieve this goal.  i knew he had gotten this incredible ball rolling and i felt that from nothing he created so much, but now with him gone i felt a calling to conitnue work like his,i ewas inspired by the windmills in oneida and lowville and i decided to start an alternative energy business.  i would take it upon myself to sustain the interest, and follow the industry as it impacts on our society.  i will be getting certified in photovoltaic technology and wind energy.
i have met with 2 young engineers each with different backgrounds, both interested in getting into solar/wind/geo-thermal and other energy projects.
i will be posting my ideas, my views on social, political, technological ideas and how it all relates to the world.
my ultimate desire is to create a sustainable self sufficient energy-wize society, free of dependence on foreign oil or other imports.
i am looking forward to posting more of my ideas-
urban options-solar-wind-passive solar
rural large scale farms -solar,wind-geothermal
photo-voltaics are in their infancy, the flexibility or the matrix material, the cations selected with electrical differential vary, sure there is a long range of experience
my thought is there will be breakthrus in tthe materials we are using and the engineering is still rather basic.
i look forward to addressing these and many other opportunities we have in
the near future
sincerely

MISSION STATEMENT-THE ANSWER MY FRIEND

the answer my friend, inc.,  is a new enterprise intended to seek and develop answers to the most profound questions of our times. we are now at a profound turning point in history. the world economy is in chaos, and all the thinkers and experts in the fields of finance seem to have run out of ideas or have simply been borrowing from peter to pay paul.
energy will be one of the major currencies of the future.
the impact of globalization and portability of technology, multinational means of production and distribution, where did we come from, where did we go , where did we come from cotton eyed joe, that is what i hope to explore and contribute concrete ideas for taking us to the next level
this is a journal of optimism, in a sea of pessimism- look here for a lift
